About the Executive Committee
MEC members represent their caucus for a two year term. They commit to attending a monthly meeting during September-April and a retreat day in May/June. They lead the caucus discussions during MACTE meetings, advocate for issues in teacher preparation, and participate on various committees for MACTE, such as Communications – MACTE Minute at PELSB meetings, Legislative Committee to work with our legislative liaison(s) to track legislation of interest to MACTE, Standards/Rules Committee to stay abreast of upcoming changes in standards/rules in teacher preparation, and/or the Conference Committee to oversee the planning/implementation of our conferences held 3 times/year.
Serving on MEC is an excellent way to become more involved in issues affecting teacher preparation on a statewide level. In order to vote on AACTE issues (which happens rarely), MEC members must come from an AACTE member institution.
